GALLERY: MELISSA HUTTON

Melissa Hutton’s paintings confront themes of isolation, abandonment, and resilience by drawing from personal experience and an emotional reaction to the environment. Pop-inspired stormy panoramas littered with abandoned barns, highways slicing through fields and looming gas stations are common subject matter. Through a mix of mediums including spray enamel, resin and photography she explores the complexities of the American landscape.

Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Melissa Hutton completed her Bachelor’s degree in printmaking and film in 1995 at the San Francisco Art Institute. She currently lives in San Francisco, California working as a freelance graphic designer, painting and taking color photographs with a 6X9 film camera.

Hutton’s work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions around the Bay Area and Art Fairs across the United States.
