Internship Areas
We offer internships in the following areas:

Revolving
Most of our interns start in a revolving internship. This internship, which allows for the intern to experience three different areas of the theater business in depth, splits the intern's total time at the Z Space into thirds. One third will be spent assisting in Marketing, one third in Artistic/Production, and one third in Fundraising/Development. While you are not required to start your time with us as a revolving intern, we recommend it. Following your alloted time as a revolving intern, if you wish to stay on, you will have first choice to transfer into a steady internship in the area of your most interest.
To apply

Production
Working with our Production Manager, interns will gain experience in all aspects of production coordination including scheduling contracts, load-in, and strike. Interns will work primarily on an upcoming mainstage show, and will assist with preparations for our School & Library Tour, workshops, and readings. In addition, interns may have the option of working with other resident companies of the Z Space Studio. Along with Artistic, Production makes up one third of the Revolving internship.
To apply

Artistic
This internship is perfect for the intern who wants to develop and nurture new theater! Under the supervision of the Artistic Directors, the intern will maintain and update the actor and artist databases, read and review submitted scripts and synopses, and help coordinate artist travel. The intern will also assist in booking and organizing touring productions, producing special events, and implementing the lobby display for upcoming shows. Along with Production, Artistic makes up one third of the Revolving internship.

Marketing
Under the supervision of the Marketing Associate, this intern will provide assistance in several areas, including: writing press releases and maintaining press contacts, developing advertising campaigns for print and radio, maintaining contact with press and advertisers, submitting calendar listings, creating and distributing press packets, developing show programs and lobby displays, assisting on web maintenance, and developing and maintaining the graphic identity of the Z Space Studio. Marketing makes up one third of the Revolving internship.
To apply

Fundraising/Development
Working with the staff, this intern will provide support in the development and maintenance of the donor database, organizing and presenting special donor-specific events, creating prospect lists, grant writing, and maintaining the grants calendar. Fundraising/Development makes up one third of the Revolving internship.

Time Commitment

We require a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week for our interns. Except in special circumstances approved by the General Manager, interns must schedule their hours between 9 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

Regarding overall duration of the internship, we require a minimum of a three month commitment. There is no maximum duration.

Compensation

The Z Space cannot offer compensation for internships at this time. However, it is often the case that during an intern's time with us, various paid side opportunities (such as box office or production assistance) will come up and will be offered to the intern first. The Z Space also cannot provide any relocation expenses.
