PATRON SERVICES MANAGER
Z SPACE empowers artistic risk, collaboration, and camaraderie amongst artists, audiences, and staff in the service of creating, developing, and presenting new work. Operating out of an old can factory in the Mission District of San Francisco, Z SPACE activates two performance spaces, an 85- seat black box and a 244- seat main stage, with a warehouse aesthetic and an adventurous edge.
Z SPACE currently seeks a patron services manager, responsible for coordinating rentals and managing front of house and facilities in both spaces. A crucial part of the Z SPACE team, the Patron Services Manager interfaces with rental clients and audience members on a regular basis, and works to ensure that all Z SPACE visitors have a positive experience. This position requires availability on some evenings and weekends.
PRODUCTION & RENTALS COORDINATION
-Liaison with rental and production staff to clarify and enforce procedures of the spaces and restrictions on space use
-Liaison with rental or production staff to determine appropriate box office, house management, and bar needs for all productions and public events
-Interface with clients for all box office needs (managing comp tickets, third party ticketing, etc.) and communicating all needs to the front of house staff
FRONT OF HOUSE ACQUISITION, TRAINING, MANAGEMENT
-Secure needed Front of House staff for all public events (House Managers, Box Office Agents, Ushers, and Bartenders) including personally filling any front of house position shifts as needed
-Responsible for personally working the opening of every major production or rental event located in Z Above (450 Florida Street, San Francisco) and a minimum of 3 House Management shifts per month based on the production schedule as determined by the General Manager
-Train and supervise Front of House staff, including overseeing the trainings of on First Aid/CPR, etc. Ensure that all Front of House staff members are prepared to interact with clients and audiences
-Effectively communicate rental client needs to the Front of House staff
-Hire and train bartenders
-Maintain and document bar inventory
-Secure starting bank for each shift
-Manage bar equipment and needs, in collaboration with the General Manager, make the necessary facilities upgrades
-Reconcile all revenue and expenses including bar cash
-Answer box office phone line, manage and respond to box office phone messages and emails in a timely fashion
-Secure starting bank for each shift
-Order ticket stock
-Reconcile box office cash
-With supervision from the General Manager, works with outside vendors and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all building systems, building structures, grounds and exterior elements, as well as the handling of all staff facilities requests
-Operations & Maintenance: Monitor and evaluate performance of building systems for all Z Space facilities. Performs or coordinates corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance for building systems. Performs or coordinates maintenance and cleaning of building structures, permanent interior elements & grounds and exterior elements. Maintains cleanliness & order of all public areas
-Responsible for the timely completion or resolution of all facilities related requests
-Administers daily management of the phone, voicemail, & HVAC control systems. In collaboration with the General Manager, works with outsourced company to ensure that all IT needs are being addressed in a timely fashion and that appropriate and timely investment in hardware and software are made
-Coordinates and monitors the janitorial staff
-Consistently documents the conditions and standards required to properly maintain all building systems, structures, equipment, and other related assets
-Develops and manages appropriate inventories of supplies needed to maintain the facilities systems and equipment
-Ensures the timely completion of all facilities related requests
-Monitor security systems. Maintain key log and distribution list
-First on after hours security and fire call lists. Responds to all building emergencies except when exercising PTO or during pre-arranged ‘unavailable’ times
-Maintain lobby and kitchen for public and staff use

Paid position at $18/hour. House Managers require availability on evenings and weekends, with occasional weekdays for private and special events. House Managers have direct contact with Z Space patrons and supporters. Some responsibilities include: opening and closing the theater, maintaining a clean atmosphere in all public areas of the theater, overseeing the stuffing and distribution of programs, and coordinating with the box office agent and house technician. The ideal candidate will have hospitality experience, ensure that all guests receive the highest level of customer service at all performances and events, and take pride in their work.
BOX OFFICE AGENT
Paid position at $18/hour. Box Office Agents are forward facing employees, have direct contact with Z Space patrons and supporters, and represent the organization. Some responsibilities include: using Spektrix ticketing software to sell, exchange, and return tickets for all performances sold through the box office; handling of cash, check, and credit card transactions; and filing ticket orders and preparing tickets for will call. Candidates must be friendly, courteous, neat, and prompt, and have the ability to manage stress in a fast paced environment and problem solve. Z Space Box Office Agents ensure that all guests receive the highest level of customer service at all performances and events, and take pride in their work.
Paid position at $15/hour plus tips. Bartenders should have a minimum 1-year of bartending, restaurant, or hospitality experience. They are responsible for creating and maintaining an accurate account of concession inventory and sales records, serving drink products to patrons, maintaining the concessions area, and handling cash and card transactions. Z Bartenders are forward facing employees, have direct contact with Z Space patrons and supporters, and represent the organization.
House techs at Z Space requires in-depth knowledge of theatrical lighting equipment and practices, basic set-up and operation of sound systems, and basic QLab programming. House Tech calls may involves physical labor, lifting up to 50lbs, working at grid height (23'6") on ladders and/or motorized work platforms. House Techs will become familiar with Z Space house operations, rules and guidelines to serve as stewards of the venue and hosts for productions. House Technician calls range from 4-hour minimum to multi-week productions and occasional OT/DT depending on the production schedule. Z Space House Technicians are employees of Z Space.
