Z SPACE presents

RYKARDA PARASOL:
an object of pleasure

ART SHOW JUN 8 - AUG 21  | Z SPACE LOBBY

OPENING RECEPTION AND BOOK SIGNING/READING
THURSDAY JUNE 8TH, 6-9 PM

Rykarda Parasol, first time author, and Z Space, are pleased to announce Parasol’s book release Thursday, 6-9pm, June 8th, 2017. An excerpt of An Object of Pleasure will be read and twenty-four embroidered illustrations from the book will be on exhibit. “An Object of Pleasure” is a narrative poem of a young female artisan lacking devoid of self-worth seeking and seeks self-preservation in the images she embroiders. It is a dark, sexy, whimsical, and utterly tender tale of finding comfort through one’s crafts (Though it may be a somewhat skewed endeavor!). The endearing embroideries which illustrate the book are uniquely intertwined into the narrative poem.

ABOUT THE CREATOR

Rykarda Parasol is best known as a singer-songwriter, from San Francisco now living part-time in Paris, France, who continues to perform primarily in Europe, though still records in San Francisco. Most recently she and her Warsaw-based live band toured throughout Italy and parts of Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Switzerland. She is well known as a lyricist and her intricately self-designed album covers have also found critical praise.  Her latest album, The Color of Destruction, received 5-stars from BUST Magazine. She has garnered press and interviews in Vice, SF Guardian, SF Chronicle, LA Weekly, Timeout New York, Rolling Stone Germany, and many more. Most recently, she was featured on Hungarian National Television and performed at the Warsaw Opera House in cooperation with French national programming, French Touch, appearing alongside French pop stars Thomas Dutronc and Louane. Storytelling and unique sense of “line” connect the various medium she endeavors in. Storytelling and imagery are her comforts and passion and she hopes to inspire others to find comfort in the joy through arts and crafts as well.
