7/13/23 - Vanessa Flores Chacko Named Associate Artistic Director of Word for Word Performing Arts Company
Z Space has named Vanessa Flores Chacko (she/her) as the new Associate Artistic Director of Word for Word Performing Arts Company. She joins Co-Founder and Artistic Director JoAnne Winter in leading the company, and will work with Winter overseeing the artistic and administrative needs of the company and with the Word for Word Core Company to select stories for production. She will also produce the Off the Page staged reading series, and work closely with the Z Space Marketing team to develop Word for Word’s marketing and communication strategy.
1/4/22 - Nikki Meñez is Z Space’s new Curatorial Director!
Z Space is pleased to announce Nikki Meñez (she/they/siya) will be joining Z Space this January as our new Curatorial Director! Born and raised on the Ohlone land of the Bay Area, their greatest joy is an energetic source of connection, communication, and community amongst arts organizations and creative individuals.
9/17/21 - Susan Harloe Steps Down as Co-Artistic Director of Word for Word in October 2021
“There would be no Word for Word without Susan Harloe,” says Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director JoAnne Winter. “And she is the reason that Word for Word has survived and thrived for over 28 years. Her ‘never say no’ attitude, love for the written word and theatre, and her commitment to making artists' dreams come true, have created a dedicated community of audience and artists.”
7/31/21 - It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our dear friend and Word for Word Charter Member, Jeri Lynn Cohen has passed away after a long illness.
4/8/21 - Congratulations to Shafer Mazow, Z Space's new Executive Director!
Shafer, who had been Managing Director here at Z Space, makes history in April 2021 as one of the first openly transgender leaders in the American theater.
