Sharp & Fine presents

Imaginary Country

What would happen if you could see the future?

May 12-14 on Z Space’s Steindler Stage

Imaginary Country is a blend of dance, theater, and live on-stage music, an original and surreal work that dives into the story of two friends and the conflict that emerges when one inexplicably starts to see the future. Incorporating devised dialogue and unexpected imagery—a woman turning into a monster, a phone call from the future, an absurdist ball game—Imaginary Country explores the fear, joy, and transformative possibility that come with imagining the future.

ABOUT SHARP & FINE

Sharp & Fine is a San Francisco-based contemporary dance company co-founded in 2011 by sisters Megan and Shannon Kurashige to create experiments in theatrical storytelling and physically exuberant choreography that draws on balletic and contemporary forms. Sharp & Fine's work brings together dance, emotionally nuanced text, live music, and the belief that telling a story built on personal truths is a powerful act of communication and empathy.

Sharp & Fine has collaborated with dancers, composers, musicians, authors, a playwright, and an opera singer. The company's evening-length works have been performed at Z Space and ODC Theater, and shorter performances have been commissioned by Oakland Ballet, FACT/SF, the U.S./Japan Cultural Trade Network, the Merde Project, and Soundwave. Sharp & Fine has been an artist-in-residence at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Berkeley Ballet Theater, and the Dresher Ensemble Studio.
