Fall of Freedom:
Remember Their Names

This November 21-22, arts organizations across the United States will be participating in the Fall of Freedom nationwide wave of creative resistance against rising authoritarianism.

Join Z Space on Saturday, November 22 for Remember Their Names, an online day of action as we uplift immigrant stories, remember those who have died in ICE detention, and share action items for protecting our communities.

How to Participate:

  • Remember: Z Space staff will share the names and stories of people who have died in ICE detention since Trump was inaugurated in January in a video series posted to our Instagram and Youtube channels.

  • Watch: Z Space and Word for Word have made two animated videos from the 2021 production of Retablos by Octavio Solis available to view online.

About Retablos

Retablos by Octavio Solis is a coming of age memoir; each chapter a memory tale, verging on fable, which paints a dreamlike picture of life in El Paso in the 60’s and ’70’s. Drawing from his own childhood, Solis says that he wrote these stories "to see how that skinny brown kid riding his bike out there in the desert made sense of his complicated, deeply beautiful and troubled world." About Fall of Freedom:

Fall of Freedom is an urgent call to the arts community to unite in defiance of authoritarian forces sweeping the nation. Our Democracy is under attack. Threats to free expression are rising. Dissent is being criminalized. Institutions and media have been recast as mouthpieces of propaganda.

This Fall, we are activating a nationwide wave of creative resistance. Beginning November 21–22, 2025, galleries, museums, libraries, comedy clubs, theaters, and concert halls across the country will host exhibitions, performances, and public events that channel the urgency of this moment. Fall of Freedom is an open invitation to artists, creators, and communities to take part — and to celebrate the experiences, cultures, and identities that shape the fabric of our nation.

Art matters. Artists are a threat to American fascism.
