Z Space's 229 seat Main Stage, located at 450 Florida St, is the crown jewel of our New Works and Curated Rentals programs. A former canning factory, Z Space took over this space from Project Artaud in 2009. With its 40-foot tall ceilings and charmingly spartan decor, this theater is a set designer's dream—a blank canvas waiting to be transformed into any multitude of immersive, innovative dramatic worlds.

In recent years, it's been used to realize a multi-room mansion for the smash hit House Tour (written by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb and starring Danny Scheie), to simultaneous host a live rock band and the surreal inner life of a doomed couple in Hundred Days, bring to life the expansive visions of Opera Parallèle's Heart of Darkness and The Lighthouse, and been transformed in a number of co-presentations with Joe Goode Performance Group such as When We Fall Apart, HUSH, and Wonderboy & 29 Effeminate Gestures.

Dance companies particularly favor this spacious room, we regularly have companies like Post: Ballet, Sean Dorsey Dance, LINES Ballet, David Herrera Performance Group, LEVYdance, Chitresh Das Dance Company, among many others. Such internationally renowned artists such as Eddie Izzard, Frances McDormand and the Kronos Quartet have graced this stage during our tenure.
