A timely work of haunting beauty, In a Memory Palace is an intercultural meditation on memory, decay and courage. Dancing at the borders of time, this world, and the next, the play unfolds in a present-day nursing home. There we encounter the spirit of Hedwig Müller, a once well-respected Viennese couturier who, as Europe descended into crisis, fled to the US with her Jewish husband. Live music, dance, video and mask combine to explore the porous frontier of memory itself.
Drawn from the deep well of Japanese noh and shaped by the music and art of Vienna in its interwar splendor, In a Memory Palace invites you to open the door and step inside.
