IMPORTANT UPDATE 3/12/20:

Due to the worsening Coronavirus outbreak in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Fog City Singers (FCS) have decided to follow municipal guidance and postpone our April 4th Movement & Voice concerts for the safety of our patrons, singers, dancers, and venue staff. We will also be canceling all of our rehearsals through mid-April. We’re working with Z Space to refund ticket orders in full, including credit-card processing fees (which FCS will pay for out of pocket).

In the meantime, we'll aim to choose a new concert date at Z Space far enough in the future for the current uncertainty to hopefully subside. We'll post updates on fogcitysingers.com and facebook.com/fogcitysingers as soon as we have them. Thanks so much for your understanding. We’re dispirited to have worked so hard on these shows only to have to cancel them for now, but our members are unanimous that this is the right decision. Rest assured we’ll be back and better than ever when we finally perform this program for you.

In the meantime, stay healthy, stay safe, and keep a melody ringing.

MOVEMENT & VOICE

An a cappella concert featuring professional ballet

San Francisco’s acclaimed Fog City Singers unite with former professional dancers to bring you a radical new concert experience. Featuring brand-new arrangements that marry world-class barbershop harmony with choral and contemporary a cappella styles, our 40 singers and 4 dancers will leave no stone unturned as they explore how live singing and live movement can synthesize and together yield an even more powerful kind of music.

Also appearing will be our organization’s women’s chorus, Harmonia, and the breakout ensembles from Fog City’s Feb 13 Passion Projects performance at the SF Conservatory of Music. Three Fog City sub-groups will perform choral, pop/jazz, and classic barbershop selections—all self-rehearsed and self-directed during a dedicated sprint period at the beginning of our spring rehearsal process. From our groundbreaking barbershop+dance collaboration to our showcase of the many divergent styles that each feed into our ensemble’s DNA, this will be a Fog City Singers concert you won’t want to miss.

About Fog City Singers

fcs-international-2017.png

The Fog City Singers are an international Top-10 barbershop chorus based in San Francisco. Founded in 2015 with singers from celebrated ensembles like Chanticleer, Volti, American Bach Soloists, and some of the nation’s top barbershop choruses, Fog City has since grown into a Bay Area institution in its own right. In the past two years, Fog City performed as the featured ensemble at the 2019 California Choral Directors Association conference, finished 7th at the 2018 International Barbershop Chorus competition, and has drawn praise from an increasing pool of professional composers for the chorus’s powerful sound, impassioned delivery, and commitment to memorizing music. Fog City’s mission is to create a close fraternity of musicians; to apply diverse, world-class resources to our art; and to revolutionize how barbershop music is performed and appreciated.
