Wet Floor
Open mic Night

Music by amateurs, professionals and everyone in between!

April 27, 2017 | 8 - 10:30 PM | Z Space's Lobby

Have you written the next Don’t Stop Believing in your bedroom? Do you belt out Amy Winehouse with your friends at the bar on Saturday night and want to get up and do it for real? Do you make jaws drop at Karaoke?

Or

Are you a seasoned Bay Area performer who wants a chill early evening slot in an amazing venue? Do you want a place to try out your latest heart-wrenching ballad to see whether audiences cry? Need a practice gig before that headlining slot at The Independent?

Then come join the maiden voyage of Wet Floor Open Mic. Together with your friends and neighbors and in the warmth of Z Space, you will enjoy music from new and experienced local singer-songwriters. Amateurs, professionals and everyone in between welcome! It's "ACOUSTICISH" we'll provide a backline of amps, microphones and vocal PA, guitar, and piano. If you'd like, bring your own electric, acoustic, or  bass guitar to plug in. Coffee shop volume with no drums or laptops.

Z Space is an expansive multi-discipliary performing arts space in the heart of the mission. It offers a fantastic setting for live music. There is a bar and cocktail seating. Meet real people. Discover talent.

This events benefits Z Space. It's free with RSVP, but please consider buying a "supporter ticket."  Like most arts organizations, we occasionally need an extra buck or two. The best way to help us is by buying a lot of drinks at the bar. "The More You Drink The Better We Art," as we like to say!

J. Shepherd

Featured Performer

J. Shepherd puts a soundtrack to all of his life's foibles and sappy diary entries. He yodels about pain at the top of his lungs, whispers about his deepest longings, and hums happy tunes to visions of nihilistic endings consuming us all. His songs don't contain any answers to the questions he asks;  but do offer foot tapping, head bobbin, whistling along pleasure.  Folky sing alongs for the wayward traveler.
